Ella worked for the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust as our Director of Safeguarding, where she was our safeguarding lead supporting throughout the 6 academies. Ella managed the safeguarding team within Shireland Collegiate Academy and shaped and developed the personnel and their skills. Ella’s knowledge and expertise shine through with her passion for safeguarding and supporting the young people, their families and professionals.

Ella’s expertise allows her to approach every situation calmly and to risk assessment to minimise disruption to all those involved. Her ability to manage situations and to develop the rapport necessary is exceptional.

Ella is highly praised for her bespoke, innovative training, that engages delegates throughout sessions which of course contain some difficult safeguarding topics. Ella is friendly and approachable and always receives outstanding feedback from training sessions.

The Trust values Ella’s support and guidance and can highly recommend both her training and consultancy.

Having searched in vain for something innovative, enlightening and inspirational on the theme of identifying and addressing potential radicalisation, I was cautious about hoping for too much when asking Ella to run the session.

I need not have had such misgivings; the engaging and authoritative manner, the diversity of presentation styles and the opportunities to think made it a most successful day.”

I’ve worked with Ella since she was a very impressive safeguarding lead at Shireland and I am not surprised that she has gone on to become an excellent safeguarding consultant.  She knows all aspects of safeguarding in education and having experienced it for herself at Shireland, Ella is extremely knowledgeable about what it really looks like on the frontline and the challenges that schools and DSLs face.

Ella’s training is particularly good – innovative, engaging and based on her vast experience.  A great trainer.

Ella has an excellent working knowledge of the safeguarding agenda, its relevant legislation, policies and guidance. She is able to share good practice with our school regarding contextual safeguarding and has a clear understanding of the impact of abuse on young people and how to respond to children who are at risk of significant harm.

The breadth and depth of knowledge that Ella has shared at our events has been fantastic. Having Chaired and spoken at our Safeguarding conferences, Ella is an engaging public speaker with many practical ideas. Ella’s keynote talks, and workshop sessions always receive excellent feedback. As a consultant, she brings fresh, new ideas to the fore and provides schools with the tools they need to prepare for future challenges. Ella has a clear understanding of what is required from a DSL and has a strong ability to share best practice ideas relevant and realistic to a school’s particular context. Optimus Education would highly recommend Ella’s services to anyone looking to make an impact in the area of safeguarding.

I have worked with Ella in my capacity as Team Manager for the young person’s alcohol and drug service in Sandwell. Ella has been a key point of contact, due to her knowledge and ability to be able to bring partners together to better address issues faced by young people. She has always been the consummate professional, who bases her approach on warmth, empathy and understanding, but with an outcome of excellence always central to the projects she is part of. I would have no hesitation recommending her for any work with young people with a focus on safeguarding.

On behalf of the Sandwell Stopping Female Genital Mutilation (SSFGM), a subgroup of the Sandwell Domestic Abuse Strategic Partnership (DASP) we would like to express our gratitude for the excellent work Ella has contributed over the past 3 years.

Ella has been a key member of the group and without Ella’s passion, commitment and energy, the group would not have achieved any of the success as it has. Most recently, Ella has been key in developing an FGM lesson plan/resource pack for Key Stage 2 & 3 pupils, expertly compiling the delivery of training to all Designated Safeguarding Leads in Sandwell Schools.

SSFGM’s has immense gratitude for the excellent work Ella has done. It was an enormous undertaking on top of her then current role, but Ella made everything happen smoothly and efficiently!

Ella can leave Sandwell knowing she has made a positive contribution to the work of the group and her contribution will continue to shape support in schools for years to come. We have very been very lucky to have had such a wonderful partner as part of our group for the past 3 years.
